About CarBudgetFit
By Mihir · Updated November 2026 · Numbers from the CarBudgetFit calculator
CarBudgetFit is a free tool that shows what a car really costs each month, including insurance, gas and upkeep, so you can pick a car that fits your budget before you shop.
Who makes it
CarBudgetFit is built by Mihir, an IT professional in Pennsylvania. He started it after getting tired of car calculators that only show the loan payment, when the real cost of owning a car is often hundreds of dollars a month higher.
How the numbers are made
- Prices start from each model's published starting price, collected in November 2026, with estimates for mid-level and top trims and for 3-year-old used cars.
- Loan rates are typical rates for each credit level. You can enter your own rate if you have an offer.
- Insurance and maintenance are averages for each type of car, scaled for pricier models.
- Sales rankings come from published US sales figures for January to September 2026.
The full method, with every assumption, is on How we calculate it.
What it is not
CarBudgetFit has no dealer or lender affiliation and no ads, and it does not sell your information. The numbers are planning estimates; get an insurance quote and a loan pre-approval before you buy.
